Fall is here, and it’ s the perfect season to get outside and try something new with City of New Albany Parks and Recreation.
Whether you’ re looking to join a league, start a new hobby, or just enjoy the fresh air, our Parks and Recreation department has a full lineup of programs and activities to help you stay active, connected, and healthy.
This year, we’ re especially proud to begin construction on the Monon South Freedom Trail, right here in New Albany. This new trail will eventually stretch 68 miles north past Mitchell, Indiana, and our section, from the Ohio River Greenway to the Floyd County line, is rich in both scenic beauty and historical significance. Named to honor its verified history as an Underground Railroad escape route, the Monon South Freedom Trail is more than just a walking and biking path: it’ s a living tribute to freedom, resilience, and progress.
So, flip through this brochure, find something that sparks your interest, and make the most of this amazing season. Whether on the trail or in our parks, I hope to see you out there enjoying everything our community has to offer.
Warm regards, Mayor Jeff Gahan
